Area Writing Groups

Southern Scribes     www.southernscribes.us
The Southern Scribes is a coalition of writers who either live in or write about the American South or Southwest. Originally created in 1995 as a writer's critique group, the mission of the Southern Scribes has grown with the publishing successes of the members. While still a reading and critique group, the Southern Scribes also work to publicize, market and support the books and articles written by the members. Visit our calendar page to see where the Southern Scribes will be visiting over the summer. Join us at our booksignings. Check out our links to the individual Scribes web pages and the places we go for inspiration and help. Hope to see you soon.

Geri Taran, its founding director, has announced that GWA's offices and administration was recently moved to Kennesaw State University. Ms. Taran remains as President. Among the numerous worthwhile events presented by GWA is the annual Spring Festival of Workshops at the Smyrna Community Center, Smyrna,. GA. On May 5, 2007 the event celebrates its 11th year. The festival is a one-day smorgasbord of twenty different fifty-minute workshops covering many aspects of the writing and publishing life. Georgia Romance Writers     www.georgiaromancewriters.org
Georgia Romance Writers, a chapter of ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA®, is made up of approximately 200 serious, professional writers, nearly one-third of whom are multi-published in book length fiction. A non-profit organization, we are dedicated to bringing quality women's fiction to the market.
GRW was founded in 1982, held its first regional conference the same year, and has grown steadily ever since. The heart and soul of GRW are its members who reach out to every writer who is dedicated to his or her craft.

This is the professional textbook description of GRW, but those who know it best will tell you that GRW is a "happening place" where the diligent succeed and that success is revered and celebrated by all. We are friends and we care. Come join us and share in that joy.
