A manuscript evaluation and one-on-one meeting with an editor or agent are available to Saturday conference participants for $50. Manuscripts submitted for evaluation are eligible for two prizes, the Mark Austin Segura Award for the Best Adult Fiction or Non-fiction Manuscript, and The Dixie Lee Connor Award for Exceptional Children’s Writing (includes fiction and non-fiction). Each carries a monetary value of $500. Prizes will be announced at the Saturday night dinner.

Manuscripts must be received by June 1, 2008. Submit two copies each of a cover letter, two-page synopsis, and the first 15 pages of your manuscript, double-spaced, typed or printed in 12 point font on standard 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. Secure with a paper clip only, no staples or binders.

Print and complete two copies of the submission checklist and attach one to each submission packet.

Poetry Evaluations
Professional feedback helps you write better. Discuss a small portfolio of 5-10 poems, up to 15 pages, with Frederick Smock, Poet-in-Residence at Bellarmine University, or Dana Wildsmith, Poetry Fellow with the South Carolina Academy of Authors and instructor at Lanier Technical College. Poetry evaluations are not eligible for a writing prize, but may be requested in addition to a regular manuscript evaluation. Submit 2 copies of your poetry with the submission checklist.
